BRANFORD’S CHOICE FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE

ABOUT
ROBIN

My family and I love Branford. We settled here 30 years ago and I consider it the best decision we've ever made. Running for State Representative to serve the people who live in the 102nd district was the next best decision! My husband and I started our own business in the early 90's on the heels of a recession and quickly built an excellent reputation in the media industry. Over the years my interests expanded to working in the non-profit world, carrying on a family tradition of serving in the human services field.

As a young parent, I began my public service journey as a volunteer, serving on Sliney School PTA  and regularly attending our local BOE meetings. When my second child was diagnosed with life-threatening food allergies, my world turned upside down. I joined forces with an amazing group of parents and founded a non-profit to advocate for and improve the lives of families impacted by food allergies. Our most important mission was to ensure our schools were safe and inclusive places for our children. It was then, advocating at our Board of Ed, meeting after meeting over a three year period, that I learned all it took to fight for policies that made people's lives better.

Over the next few years, I produced and secured funding for community initiatives in the areas of early childhood, community playgrounds, large scale multimedia tourism events that drew people from all over New England, and produced children's arts, environmental and water education programs.

In 2017, I ran for office to serve on Branford's Representative Town Meeting (RTM) as the third district candidate and was a the top vote getter in the district. By 2018, I set my sights on state-wide office,  ran for State Representative, and was proudly elected to serve the 102nd district. My first year in office I led the passage of a stock epinephrine bill allowing access to this life-saving medication in public spaces.

In 2020, with the COVID-19 pandemic ravaging our communities,  I received a record number of emails and calls from constituents and they continue today. I am humbled to be able to provide so many Branford residents with support during the most difficult times of their lives. Now in my second term, I've never felt more connected to the people that live here in Branford and the issues they face every day.

Today, as we move forward with a new appreciation for the support government can provide during times of crisis, I am focused on being a bridge for the resources our state has and improving systems that address our shortcomings.  Whether working to improve oral care for all, connecting our diverse families to life-saving vaccines, finding solutions to the mental health crisis facing our children, or ensuring that the deaf, deaf-blind and hard of hearing community have the necessary services in our state, I  am still that parent that fought for her son's access to a safe and inclusive education.

I serve as Vice Chair of the Insurance and Real Estate Committee, on the Education Committee and the Committee on Children.  This past fall I served as co-chair on several work groups. The first titled; Work Group Concerning Issues Affecting Deaf, Hard of Hearing and Deaf-Blind Persons; and the second, a Community Hospice Ombudsman Work Group.  I was recently appointed by the House Majority Leader to serve on the Mental Health Service Provider Task Force, to begin work in 2022.
Additionally, I am a member of the bipartisan Bio-Science Caucus, Coastal Caucus, Early Childhood Caucus, and Arts and Culture Caucus.

This past year we passed a bipartisan budget, our Rainy Day Fund continues to reach record levels, we are seeing historic revenue growth  and we are making meaningful contributions to our pension fund, putting the state in a positive position for the first time in decades. We must continue down this path.

This past fall I announced the news of a $750,000 bonding package for Branford to make our streets more walkable and help mitigate traffic issues with additional safety measures on Route 142.  Throughout my career I've delivered on bringing investments into our community that have positively impacted the residents of our town, young and old.

We still have work to do to protect access to reliable, affordable health care; foster economic growth and create more well-paying jobs; support high-quality accessible public education; and protect the environment we all cherish. You can depend on me to work hard each and every day.

The policy accomplishments that continue to mean the most to me are the ones that have meant the most to you, the people right here in Branford.

I am running for re-election and I would be grateful for your support.    I am more hopeful than ever that together we will tackle Connecticut's challenges head-on.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your support. I look forward to continuing as your State Representative and I ask for your vote on November 8th.

THE
ISSUES

ECONOMY

When families succeed, Connecticut succeeds. A bipartisan budget, a record Rainy Day Fund and historic revenue growth is allowing us to make critical contributions to our pension fund, putting the state in a positive position for the first time in decades.

SENIORS

Connecticut’s long-term services and support systems for the disabled and seniors are out of balance. As a sole caregiver, I have navigated these systems and will continue to support the issues that seniors are facing.

EDUCATION

Good schools are the cornerstone to any growing community, and to succeed, Connecticut must commit to providing quality education for all. I fight every single day to give our schools the proper support to meet our children's needs.

PUBLIC HEALTH

I have a long record of moving public health policy forward and improving outcomes for both children and adults across the state.  This pandemic has taught us about the importance of  strong public health policies.  A true champion on healthcare, I invite you to learn more about my priorities.

ENVIRONMENT

Branford residents have experienced disruption caused by storms, and are concerned with the impact rising sea levels have on their homes and businesses. I am a strong voice for Branford, advocating for efforts to protect our shoreline and the people who live here.

REDUCING GUN VIOLENCE

The past two years firearms have been bought in record numbers. Connecticut has some of the strongest laws in the country and we are focused on doing all we can to keep guns out of the hands of felons, domestic abusers, and individuals with mental illnesses that are deemed dangerous to society.

"Good leadership starts with listening and being willing to engage with a diverse group of people to find solutions.  I feel fortunate to be able to play a role in helping improve the lives of those who call Branford home.”
